Sterling silver American flag charm, with the stars and stripes rendered in red, white and blue enamel. This charm is vintage Wells Sterling and dates from the 1960s.
The stripes represent the original 13 Colonies and the stars represent the 50 states of the Union. The colors of the flag are symbolic as well; red symbolizes hardiness and valor, white symbolizes purity and innocence, and blue represents vigilance, perseverance and justice. Our flag and our dreams for what it can symbolize are immortalized in the lyrics of our national anthem, The Star Spangled Banner.
This American flag charm measures approximately .75 inch long and weighs 2 grams. This piece was polished by hand; No corrosive solvents or dips which might harm the enamel were used.
