This amethyst brooch is a perfect summer day offered through the lens of a modern artist, painting in metal and stone. The silver glint of water is layered with the play of golden waves, becoming more defined as they reach the shore. A natural stone rises to break the surface… Or maybe it was just thrown in, causing the splash of sterling silver at it’s base. Art is all about interpretation and what you bring to it personally informs what you see.
Amethyst is the stone of poets and dreamers. It is said to clear the way for psychic inspiration and guidance, and to set the creative juices flowing. Among those who use crystals to focus their meditation, amethyst is associated with the crown chakra. The crown chakra, or sahasrāra chakra in Sanskrit, is known as “the bridge to the cosmos.” It is the most spiritual in nature of all seven chakras. Located above the crown of the head, it acts as the individual’s center of spirit, enlightenment, wisdom, universal consciousness, and connection to higher guidance.
This amethyst brooch measures approximately 60 mm tall by 45 mm across. That translates to 2.25 inches tall by 1.75 inches wide. As with most vintage mixed metals, exact metal content is not marked; This piece includes sterling silver and brass with an alloy clasp at the back. The stone was tested to confirm that it is genuine amethyst. It’s a substantial statement piece, weighing in at 26 grams (1 ounce). This piece was polished by hand; No corrosive solvents or dips were used.
