Product Description
This book, Enamels Enameling Enamelists by Glenice Lesley Matthews, ranges the entire process of enameling. She describes the various materials and tools, then details the different processes and what type of finish can be expected with each one. Part 2 of the book details six project in step by step precision.
Glenice Matthews was one of the finest enamelists / goldsmiths of our time. She had a vast repertoire of skills, as conversant with working with gold and silver as with copper, her unique forms hand raised and her pieces finished with finely enameled elements. Her jewelry often featured unusual, experimental techniques, the glass subtly colored with oxides. She also made unique pieces from small gold nuggets, baroque pearls, sometimes incorporating Argyle diamonds. She taught and exhibited all over the world. Ecclesiastical pieces became an important part of her work, with some pieces acquired by important collections including the Australian Jewish Museum.
