Product Description
This beautiful ring was made by an American artisan deeply immersed in the shifting aesthetic of his time.
A tri-color piece in solid gold recalls the 1840s Victorian styles, but the flourishes at the edge of the bezel speak more of the Art Nouveau aesthetic to come at the turn of the century. The sculpting of the rose blossom itself is boldly simple, with the hand of the artist seen in the work, as one would expect from the Arts and Crafts movement (1880-1910). Finally, in 1886, the American Beauty rose was named and the profuse tumble of Victorian posies began to give way to the romance of the single red rose. Where all of these aspects meet, you’ll find this ring; A beautiful sign of it’s times circa 1890.
This ring is currently size 7.5. The design measures 18 mm from top to bottom and 15 mm parallel to the band. The ring is marked and tested to confirm 14K gold and weighs 5.5 grams. Gold doesn’t patina, so this ring has received only a light cleaning with a soft cloth.
