This sweet sterling pendant features a guilloche enamel rose in the most delicate shade of pink. The chain is equally delicate; Fragile in appearance, but wrought from sterling silver. This necklace is precious in every sense of the word.
Guilloché enamel is created by engraving the fine metal – solid sterling silver or gold – usually with a fine pinstripe or sunburst. The enamel is then floated and fused directly over the engraved design. For painting in enamel up to 20 firings might be required to accommodate the different temperatures and timing needed for each color to flow and bond. The underlying engraving lends a captivating 3D aspect to the enamel, as if facets in the enamel itself reach out to catch the light.
There is no gentle way to say this: This technique is time consuming and expensive to produce. From the legendary guilloche created by Fabergé to the last few pieces created in the mid century, these pieces are luxury items. The smaller the piece, the more difficult it was to complete.
This guilloche enamel rose pendant measures 16 mm (approximately 5/8 of an inch) in diameter. The back of the pendant is marked sterling and the spring clasp is marked .925. The chain is 15 inches long and the entire necklace weighs 3 grams. Our jewelry is polished by hand; No corrosive solvents or dips are used.
**Our fine jewelry is always boxed for shipping.**
