Product Description
Halcyon Days Revival presents the Royal Legends Collection special edition enamel box, featuring King Canute the Great. Canute was believed to be crowned by an angel in 11th century England. His piety and humility were renowned. The Royal Legends King Canute trinket box shows Canute at the site of his legend, with his throne perched at the edge of the sea.
The legend of King Canute the Great is told: Canute set his throne by the sea shore and commanded the incoming tide to halt and not wet his feet and robes. The tide continued to rise as usual and dashed over his feet and legs without respect to his royal person. The king rose and took his sycophantic followers to task, saying: “Let all men know how empty and worthless is the power of kings, for there is none worthy of the name, but He whom heaven, earth, and sea obey by eternal laws.”
This Royal Legends King Canute enamel box is hand painted in rich color and exquisite detail. It measures 2.25 inches at the widest diameter. The enamel and the gilt brass findings are in excellent condition. The original velvet lined display box is included, with only the slight shelf wear one would expect.
