Product Description
Take a moment to enjoy the detail in this Halcyon Days Rocking Horse Enamel Box, created for Christmas 1987. In this hand painted holiday design, the rocking horse is certainly something special. In fact, all of the designs around the outside of this piece are a wonder: Children playing horns and drums, spinning tops and cuddling dolls. All of this Christmas joy is framed by a hand painted checker board and cheerful cherry red.
The open lid of the box wishes you Merry Christmas and shows the same toys the children were playing with on the outside of the box. The Smithsonian Institute commissioned this piece for the 1987 holiday season, and in keeping with their own tradition, they chose a design that celebrates the pure and simple joys of the season.
This vintage rocking horse enamel box is in exquisite condition. The original red holiday display box is included and is also in great condition with very light wear from careful storage.
