Product Description
This Kingsley Enamel Samurai box features a noble Samurai on horseback, prepared for battle. The forces under his command are arrayed in the background under the banner of their allegiance. Inside the box, a line drawing of the warrior poised for hand to hand combat completes the design.
Samurai were the warriors and ruling class in Japan’s pre-industrial society. They lived their lives according to the Way of the Warrior (bushido) which allowed the violent existence of the samurai to be tempered by wisdom, patience and serenity.
The deft painter’s hand and nuanced shading are absolutely beautiful Happily, this piece is signed by the artist S.Smith. The enamel and findings are in excellent condition. It should be noted that the lid on this Crummles historical scene does not snap closed as so many others do. The lid is designed to lay flush against the rim of the box, but if upturned, the lid will open naturally with gravity.
The original display box is not available. This Kingsley Enamel Samurai will arrive in a gift box suited to it’s fine quality.
