This vibrant Painted Lady brooch makes a splash with statement style. She is vintage from the 1980’s with the airbrushed metallic early-MTV Pop Art colors to prove it, but her fashion is pure 1920s. Between her elegant rolled-brim floppy hat and her ascot, she is dressed to impress!
This oversize brooch is a mixed media art piece. This statement style was fairly common in the 1980s when this piece was made, but has since become something of a unicorn. Her aristocratic profile is cast resin with hand painted embellishment. The hat and scarf are wet-formed leather, giving depth and a true “textile” feel to her clothing. The air brushed paint is breathtaking in magenta, silver and big sky blue.
The Painted Lady brooch measures 3 inches from top to bottom and 1.5 inches across. The safety clasp is secure and she weighs 16 grams overall.
