Product Description
This silver tone desert skull charm speaks to all that is mystical in our desert southwest. In the words of the great Georgia O’Keefe, “To me, bones are as beautiful as anything I know. They are strangely more living than the animals walking around. The bones seem to cut sharply to the center of something that is keenly alive in the desert even though it is vast and empty and untouchable.”
This is a true vintage charm from the 1970s. At the time, there was a surge of interest in Indigenous American tribal culture. The rich tapestry of mythic images joined a wave of 70’s pop art that seemed to reach… everywhere. The style and weight of this cast silver alloy charm is unmistakable to anyone who grew up in that time.
This desert skull charm measures approximately .75 inches long and weighs 1.5 grams. As mentioned, this is a silver alloy, set with art glass in turquoise blue. A stainless steel jump ring will be included with your charm. If you prefer a sterling silver jump ring, I can include that too. Just let me know during checkout. This piece was polished by hand; No corrosive solvents or dips are used.
**Our unique jewelry is always boxed for shipping.**
Please take your time with the photos and consider them part of the description. Charms are properly installed when the jump ring is soldered closed. Let me know if you have any questions and feel free to check out the many treasured Indigenous motifs available in my shop! Purchases from the WhyteWing website benefit The Trevor Project, but if you are more comfortable shopping through a platform like Etsy, this haunting beauty is listed there as well.
