This is a larger Italian perfume funnel hand wrought by the fine silversmiths of Florence Italy, the City of Flowers. This funnel is unusual in that the size is larger (both basin and stem) and the cast silver handle is a pair of glorious hydrangea blossoms, with one of the blooms extending well above the rim of the basin.
This funnel is marked .800 silver, likely from the Coppini family of artisans whose fine work has been the pride of Florence for generations. I believe this funnel was created later than some of my other pieces, possibly in the mid to late 1930s. The timeline is a challenge with so many unmarked pieces through the years, so consider that an educated guess.
I have included a photo of three perfume funnels side-by-side for your reference: The first (on the left) is the Italian perfume funnel offered in this listing; The second is an Italian perfume funnel in the more customary size; The third (on the right) is a Mexican silver perfume funnel.
Please take your time with the photos I have provided and consider them part of the description. Let me know if you have any questions and feel free to check out the many treasures available in my shop!
